  • Jamestown

    Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement, was founded in the colony of Virginia.

  • The Pequot War

    What started the was the struggle to control trade. The English tried to break up Dutch-Pequot control in fur and wampum trade, while attempting to keep their political and economic dominance in the region.
  • The Maryland Toleration Act

    The Maryland Toleration Act, also known as the Act Concerning Religion, was a law mandating religious tolerance for Trinitarian Christians.
  • King Philip's War

    King Philip's War was caused by the English putting Philip's head on a stake, after he was killed, for all the public to see. This war was fought between the Indian inhabitants of New England and New England Colonists with Indian allies.
  • Bacon's Rebellion

    It was caused because Governor William Berkley refused to retaliate against Native American attacks on frontier settlement. Along with this, many colonists wanted to claim and attack American Indian frontier, but Governor William Berkley denied permission.
  • The Salem Witch Trials

    The Salem witch trials were caused when a group of young girls claimed to be possessed, and accused several women of witch craft. This turned into mass hysteria through out the public sparking the beginning of the terrible trials.
