  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    On December 16th, 1773, american colonists got frustrated and angry at Britain for "taxation without representation," so they dumped 342 chests of tea into imported by the British East India company into the harbor. This was meant to show the British that they could no longer use the colonies to their advantage.
  • The Declaration of Independece

    The Declaration of Independece
    On July 4th, 1776, the founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence was to explain why the British Colonies were looking to start their own countries.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase
    The Louisiana Purchase was a deal between France and the United States. The United States bought 827,000 square miles of land for about 15 million dollars. The purchase nearly doubled the nation and they gained control of the Mississippi River.

    The Lewis and Clark Journey

    The Lewis and Clark Journey started when President Jefferson asked Lewis and Clark to explore the new land. They recorded over 200 new plant and animal species throughout the journey, and they were able to make more maps. They had an African America girl named Sacajawea come with them to help translate to the other African Americans.

    The California Gold Rush started when James Marshall found a piece of gold in California. When other people found out about the gold they went to California to find gold for themselves so they could get money.
  • Abraham Lincoln's Assassination

    Abraham Lincoln's Assassination
    On April 14th, 1865, John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was at Ford's Theatre watching the performance of "Our American Cousin," when Booth slipped into the back of the box shot Lincoln in the back of the head. At first the audience thought that it was pat of the play, but when Mrs. Lincoln screamed, they thought otherwise.
  • The Bombing of Pearl Harbor

    The Bombing of Pearl Harbor
    On December 7th 1941, the Japanese forces attacked Hawaii just before 8 am. More than 2,400 people died during the attack, and another 1,000 were wounded.This started the war against Japan.
  • 9/11

    9/11
    On September 11th, 2001, terrorists hijacked four commercial airlines and flew them into the twin towers. About 2500 people were killed in the crumbling of the towers, and impacted many other peoples lives and families.
