The Louisiana Territory was a piece of land that France owned that the U.S. bought for 15 million dollars. That's 3 cents per acre. Thomas Jefferson made this big purchase of land. Lewis and Clark's Journey West
Lewis and Clark went to explore the new land (louisiana purchase). President Thomas Jefferson got the new land for 3 cents an acre. Lewis discovered 300+ new plant and animal species. Clark made a new map of the territory that would help America in the future. (McDougal-Littell-336) -

The Texas Revolution
The Texas Revolution happened when a bunch of people started to settle in Texas because of the no taxes policy. Then when the government of Texas said that they were going to start taxing people. Then Texas started to revolt and started the Texas Revolution. This date was important becasue that's how America got new land: California, New Mexico and Texas.

The Donner Party
The Donner Party was a group of people who tried to go on a "shortcut" to go around the mountains, but it eneded up adding 100 miles to their trip. Then, they got trapped in 5 foot snow and 60 foot snow drifts. After running out of food The Donner Party resorted to cannibolism. This was an important event because now this shortcut is called the Linocln Highway.

The California Gold Rush
The California Gold Rush attracted many other countries to come to America. James Marshall had discovered a gold nugget in California. Before all of the miners came there was 150,000 Native Americans, and 6,000 Californios. Then once everybody heard that James found gold everyone started packing up all their stuff to go to America. 2/3 of the 49ers were Americans. This event was important because that's how we got such a diversity of people to come to the U.S.

Fort Sumter is an Island where the Civil War began. After 34 hours of attacking when Robert Anderson surrendered. This day was important because it is one of the distinguished times in our history. (History Channel) -
Attack on Pearl Harbor
Japan attack the United States without warning. The attack lasted 110 minutes. The attack started and ended at; 7:55 am.- 9:45 am. The attack led the United States into World War 2. The Japenese launched their airplanes in waves of about 45 minutes. This date was important because this was one of the first terroist attack the United states.

This Supreme Court case was about Segregation in public Schools. The court asked all of the Attorney Generals with laws permitting segregation to submit plans to proceed desegragation. The twin Towers got attacked by terrorists who hijaked 4 planes. They Aimed and hit both towers. One plane landed in a field and the other hit the Pentagon. This event changed how we deal with terrorist groups. -

The Boston Marathon Bombing
Multiple bombs explode near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Three people are killed and more than 170 people are injured. They later found the two brothers who created the incident.
