  • Beginning of the first Industrial Revolution

    Brought the introduction of machinery to Britain in the late 18th century. It was characterized by the use of steam power to manufacture goods.
  • First British settlement in Adventure Bay

    The British made this settlement to expand their colony and to stop the French from claiming their land.
  • End of Napoleonic Wars

    The second treaty of Paris to end the wars. This caused Britain's hegemony to become the most powerful for centuries.
  • End of Age of Revolution

    The end of the Age of Revolution caused governments to become more democratic rather than being ruled by monarchy.
  • Shootout at Stringy Bark Creek

    The shootout happened whilst the Kelly Gang were on the run and were setting up camp. Ned Kelly called upon the four policemen to surrender. This led to a shootout between the two sides in which three officers were killed.
  • Beginning of the Boxer Rebellion

    The Boxer Rebellion was an uprising against foreigners by Chinese nationalists. It erupted in eastern China in the late 1890s, beginning as attacks on German Christians in Shandong before expanding to other regions. The rebellion was eventually crushed in 1901 by a joint military expedition conducted by eight Western powers
  • Battle of Beersheba

    On 31 October 1917, the heavily fortified town of Beersheba was the scene of a historic charge by the men of the 4th Australian Light Horse Brigade. The momentum of the surprise attack carried them through the Turkish defenses where they were able to secure the town
