    William Shakespeare was an English playwright, poet, and actor. He was known as the most talented writer in the English Language. One of his known nicknames was the Bard of Avon. Throughout his his career he wrote 37 plays and 154 sonnets. He wrote narrative poems as well as plays under the genres of tragedies, comedies, and history.

    In colonial Massachusetts from 1692 to May 1693 there were a series of trials and prosecutions where people were being accused of practicing witchcraft. These trials cause twenty people to be executed. The ridiculous ways people thought of to prove that somebody was a witch caused people to use anyone, even their close neighbors as scapegoats. If they were not a witch then you would be accused.

    Also known as the Seven Years War, this was the conflict between Britain and France. Once France expanded into the Ohio River Valley it brought arguments with the British Colonies that resulted in an official declaration of war by Britain. A compromise was created at the 1763 peace conference when the British recieved territories of Canada from France and Florida from Spain.

    The Boston Massacre was caused by built up tensions within the American Colonies from distrust among the citizens and the Royal Troops. The tensions truly came from Townshend Acts which was going to create a heavy tax burden on the colonies. On the day of the massacre there were mixed stories, however it was said that some troops were antagonized by disgruntled citizens with snowballs. Once the Troops shot into the crowd it ended with five dead colonists.

By the summer of 1775 there was a full scale war for the rebel's independence. When France joined in 1778 it became international. By 1781 the Americans won their Independence.

    Napoleon declared himself emperor of France on May 18, 1804 and made Josephine Empress. His coronation was displayed in the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris on December 2, 1804. He placed his own crown on his head instead of the tradition ceremonies.

During the election it was Andrew Jackson that led in both the popular vote and the electoral vote. However out of all the candidates nobody held the majority of electoral votes so it was left to the House of Representatives to decide thus putting their support behind Adams. Adams served for one term as President.

    The Indian Removal Act was signed by President Andrew Jackson which gave the president the power to grant unsettled lands west of the Mississippi for Indian lands in return within existing borders. This was only mildly successful with many resisting this policy of relocation. Jackson was a strong opponent of Indian tribes which is why he supported this treaty.

During the span of 1845 to 1849 the potato crop began to fail continuously from a disease called late blight. This famine caused the deaths of one million Irish citizens.     On February 21, 1848 John Quincy was participating at a debate when he collapsed at his desk from a stroke. "He tried to stand, his right hand gripping his desk while he rose.
