At the age of 14 Hernan was sent to study at the University of Salamanca. He only studied for 2 years.

Hernan travels to the New World

Hernan decides to seek a new life in the New world, He sails with along with Alonso quintero as a slodier to Hispanolia. He asks the governor of Hispanolia, which he knew from Spain, for land and makes his own plantation.

Spain takes over Cuba

Hernan Cortes was involved in the conquest of Cuba lands. He went as a soldier and was commanded by Diego Velasquez. He was a fierce warrior and was rewarded with more land and slaves.

Hernan's voyage to Mexico

Hernan was well known in the community and was appointed to a high official. He was allowed to lead a small expidition to Mexico but Velazquez cancelled his trip. Hernan ignored his order and still went the following year.

Hernan to lands on Mexico

Hernan prepares over 500 men,horses, weapons and 11 ships. They land on the east coast of Mexico. They are armed with cannons and armor and their oponents only have spears and arrows.

Tabasco Takeover

Hernan lands and seeks Tabasco and battles against natives.

Veracruz conquer

Hernan and his army then took over Veracruz.

March to Tenochtitlan

Cortes and his army then seek to take over the city of Tenochtitlan. On the way the meet other native groups and form allies. They later marched to another big city,Cholula, and allied with the Montezuma in Sept 5 after many battles.

Arrival to Tenochtitlan

Hernan had a big enough army and marched inot the city of the Aztec empire. He then took their leader ,Moctezuma, hostage in his own palace.

Stopping Cortes

Velazquez sent men to go capture and bring back Cortes to face the consequences for disobeying his ordsersd but Hernan fought back. Once everything was settled and the Spanish colonized, Cortes sent a letter to the king of Spain saying what he did and what he had to do and that he at atleast defeated the Aztec Empire. Cortes was then appointed governor of the new land of Spain

Hernan Cortes under appointed

Hernan was suspended from his role of governor. Hernan then moved back to Spain and live there and use his fortune to make his own palace in Cuernavaca.
