Germans declare Children that are Jewish are not able to go to school. -
September 1941
Hana’s mother gets taken away to the Gestapo along with all the other men. Uncle Ludvik and Aunt Heda take George and Hana to live with them. -
May 16, 1942
Hana celebrates her 11th Birthday on her way to the concentration camp. -
May 18, 1942
Hana arrives at Theresienstadt -
July 3, 1942
Hana’s Grandmother arrives in Theresienstadt and dies soon after. -
July 14, 1942
George and Hana’s father, Karel, is sent from the Iglau Gestapo prison to Cejl prison in Brno and then to Auschwitz where he is killed, on July 14, 1942. -
October 23, 1944
Hana is sent to Auschwitz on the second last transport to leave Terezin for Auschwitz. Hana is promptly sent to the gas chamber shortly after she arrives in Auschwitz. She is never reunited with her brother. -
April 1945
Americans liberate Buchenwald concentration camp in Weimarorge yay. -
1949
George escapes from Czechoslovakia to Austria where he lives until he immigrates to Canada -
Months later
George lives happily in Toronto
