    English settlement
    The first english settlement was founded in Jamestown Virgina. A group of Men and young boys settled on the banks of virgina.
  • Mayflower Compact

    Mayflower Compact
    The document was drawn up in response to "mutinous speeches" that had come about because the Pilgrims had intended to settle in Northern Virginia, but the decision was made after arrival to instead settle in New England. Since there was no government in place, some felt they had no legal obligation to remain within the colony and supply their labor. The Mayflower Compact attempted to temporarily establish that government until a more official one could be drawn up in England.

    John Locke contributes to the constitution
    John Locke was a political philosopher whose works were read by many of the framers of the constitution, notably Thomas Jefferson. He contributed the rights of life, liberty and property.
  • Albany Congress Proposses the Colonies unite

    They wanted to reunite all the colonies leaving few to none independent.They indeed did by 1776

    This act basically says that all American Colonist have to pay taxes on every peice of printed paper they use.
  • Five Colonist killed

    Five Colonist killed
    British troops in the Massachusetts Bay Colony were there to stop demonstrations against the Townshend Acts and keep order, but instead they provoked outrage. The British soldiers and citizens brawled in streets and fought in bars. Resulting in 5 Colonist dead and many injuried.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    Colonist dressed as Mohawks and dumped the british tea into the Boston Harbor to protest taxes on tea.
  • The battle of Lexington and Concord

    The battle of Lexington and Concord
    British army were given secret orders to capture and destroy military supplies that were reportedly stored by the Massachusetts militia at Concord. Concord found out and war broke out starting the Revolution
  • Adoption of the Constitution.

    Adoption of the Constitution.
    New Hampshire adopted the Declaration of Independence to replace its royal character. As the months went on many other adopted it, which later resulted in the Congress urging the Colonies to adopt it.
  • Decleration of Independence signing

    announced that the thirteen American colonies then at war with Great Britain regarded themselves as independent states, and no longer a part of the British Empire.
