    In the case of Dred Scott v. sandford Dred Scott was a slave in Missouri then he resided in Illinois a free state. Scott then filed suit in Missouri for his freedom. In his case he is claiming that sense he lived in a free territory he should be a free man.

    The 13th amendment was the Abolition of slavery making it outlawed a crossed the nation.

    The 14th amendment granted citizenship to all persons that are born and naturalized in the US including former slaves and guaranteed all citizens equal protection.
