    Europeans arrived

    The first Europeans that is known to set foot in Georgia,at the mouth of the Savannah River on May 3, 1525.
  • May 2, 1539

    Led by Hernando

    There were more than 600 spanish soldiers led by Hernando De Sota.They marched inland from Florida's western coast.
  • Mar 4, 1540

    Crossing The Ochlockonee River

    In 1540, Hernando and his men crossed the Ochlochkonee River which is know southern Georgia.
  • Jun 3, 1542

    Hernando De sota dies

    Hernando De Sota dies from a fever in 1542. The rest of his men that were alive returned to mexico.
  • Native Americans attacts Spain' s Sea Island

    When The Native Americans attacked Spain' s Sea Islandforts the Sapinish went back to Florida.The British colonist from South Carolina took advantage of the Spainards' departure. The Brishish colonist began to settle on the Native lands what is know Georgia.
  • Emperor Brimm attacks

    In 1715, Emperor Brimm also known as Creek chief new English settlement. Emperor Brimm chased the Europeans back to Charles Town. Some of the Carolina colonists demanded that King George to provide troops to protect them
  • Georgia used as a base

    During 1715 and 1740, the British used Georgia as a base to launch attacks to the Spanish in Florida.
  • King George II grants a charter

    On June 9, 1732 King George granted a charter for the new colony.
  • Oglethorpe leaves

    Oglethorpe leaves with 120 other colonist from Great Britain in Novmber 1732.
  • American Revolution

    The American Revolution started in April 1755 , in Georgia. The colonist who supported independence established the Council of Safety.
  • British Surrendered

    The Georgians received news that the British amry had surrendered at Yorktown, Virginia. That following July, Goveror Wright and British troops left Savannah.
  • Georgia Becomes a state!

    Georgia became the forth state on January 4, 1788,when Georgia approved th Consitiution.
