In 1162, Temujin was born in Mongolia. He is the son of a member of the Borjigin clan, a clan of nomadic Mongols.

Temujin’s father is poisoned by a group of nomadic people, the Tatars. His clan disbands, and
he is kidnapped by the Tatars but soon escapes. -
During his rise of power, Genghis Khan commands his army to attack
the Kingdom of Xi Xia, a border-state located
in Northwestern China. -
Temujin soon rises to power and begins
gathering allies and forms an army of his own.
He starts conquering rival clans and is soon
given the name, “Genghis Khan,” meaning
universal leader. The Mongolian Empire was
created. -
The war ends in 1209 when the Xi Xia King finally announces allegiance to the Mongolian Empire.

Genghis Khan leads his army into Northern
China to capture Beijing, an ancient city in China, and begins claiming the majority of Asia. -
Before Genghis Khan's death, he establishes the Chagatai Khanate in Central
Asia which splits the land in 4 pieces and are
given to his sons to control. -
Genghis Khan dies and his son, Ogodei Khan, takes over the Mongolian Empire.
