  • 1st Amendment

    Gave citizens the freedom of speech religion, press. (Began the bill of rights) This affected all citizens of the United States.
  • Slavery in England was abolished.

  • Abraham Lincoln

    1850-1865 Abraham Lincoln was President and shot and killed.
  • Civil War was ended.

    The Union beat the South (The Confederate States Of America) It probably made the Southern people mad because they lost and also lost their slaves. The Union was happy because they won and set the slaves free.
  • The 15th Amendment

    The 15th Amendment gave all black men the right to vote. This affected them because it was the first time since slavery was abolished to make a law to give blacks the right to vote.
  • Plessy Vs. Fergeson- Seperate but Equal

    Plessy (a black male) sat in a part of the bus he wasn't supposed to and got in trouble and it got taken to court and rose all the way up to the supreme court and they finally made a decision that he was wrong to sit there. Because of that decision certain laws like the Jim Crow Laws were made. It affected african americans, they felt discriminated against.
  • Civil Rights Act

    The Civil Rights Act kept people from being discriminated in public places. This affected everyone from being discriminated against
  • Civil Rights Act Abolised

    The Supreme Court Abolished the Civil Rights Act which made it legal to segregate by race. This affected everyone, the whites who were scared of change, they wanted things to stay the same.
  • 13th Amendment

    The 13th Amendment declares slavery illegal in the United States. This affect the Afraican American slaves because they were no longer slaves and were free. This would also affect plantation owners because they would now how to pay their workers.
  • The 14th Amendment

    This Amendment says that If you are born in the United States you are legaly a citizen. This affects minorities that are born in the United States.
  • Jim Crow Laws

    Laws passed in the South that kept Blacks and Whites seperate in public places. This affected blacks and whites in publice places.
  • 19th Amendment

    Women get the right to vote. This affected women in the United States Of America so that they had the freedom to vote for what they believed in.
  • First African American President

    Barack Obama was voted president, the first African American President of the United States.
