For the first time on October 23, 2001 at Apple Town Hall, Cupertino, Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduces the very first Apple iPod. A hand held, pocket size electronic music device with 5GB storage that can hold up to 1000 songs. The iPod officially goes to market on 10th November 2001 and sells 125,000 units by 31st December that same year. It sells for $399.

In March 2002, Apple releases its next iPod, this time boasting double the storage capacity of the first one. This iPod prices at $499 and offers buyers free software for downloading and storing names and addresses.
