    The Start of The Mac Dynasty
    The Mac Dynasty took place before Imperialism. Right before the Mac Dynasty the country was successful. When the leaders left Mac Dang Dong took over and was a very selfish leader. The country started to fall apart. Descendants of the Le Dynasty were trying to overthrow Mac. Mac and Le co-reigned and it split the country North/South. This situation lasted for 50 years until the collapse of the Mac Dynsty in 1592.

    Tay Son Rebellion
    Three brothers from the village of Tay Son who went under the name Nguyen began an attack on the ruling Nguyen family. These brothers wanted to take property from the rich and give it to the poor. They also abolished taxes, freed prisoners, and passed out food to the hungry from a store. As they becsme stronger they picked up support from scholars, merchants,local officals and army deserts.

    European powers were trying to gain control of weaker countries. The French invaded Vietnam. They forced a peace treaty and started a colonial government with the French in all the important positions. They created a colonial capital in Saigon.

    Ho Chi Minh created the ICP for the working class. He wanted to overturn French Imperialism with ICP. Ho Chi Minh wanted Indochina to be independent. In 1945 Ho Chi Min h announces the independence of Vietnam.

    The French were trying to negotiate with Viet Minh because they controlled most of Vietnam. The Viet Minh wanted complete independence. The French wanted to regain some controll. Neither party would come to a agreement, so a war began.

    Even thought the French had more weapons than the Viet Minh, the Viet Minh scored a vctory over the French. In the middle of 1984 the French excepted defeat. A conference held in Geneva Switzerland talked about the problems of Indochina. It was decided that Vietnam would become an independent nation but the country would be split north and south.

    200,000 American combat troops arrive in South Vietnam
    U.S. troops went to South Vietnam. They were their to support the Saigon government from communism. This war became extremely violent.

    In 1973 President Nixon announes a peace deal. Prisoners of war were released and American troops left the area. South Vietnam had their own independence and North Vietnam would fine peace.
