    Siam (Thailand) was ruled by a table monarch in the region, which France and Britain attempted to colonize. France gains control of Laos as result, becomes part of French Indochina.

    Việt Minh Independence Movement

    Under revolutionary Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam fights back against French occupation and defeats French forces in 1954. This ends the First Indochina War, and Ho Chi Minh (a Marxist-Leninist) begins to make way for communist ideals in Vietnam.

    The United States becomes involved in region to block communism. After defeating the U.S., North Vietnam reunifies with South Vietnam under communist regime.
