Fredrick escaped to New York city, as a free man. He married Anna Marruy in Baltimore, she was a free woman! They settlednin New Bedford, Massachusetts, Fredrick Changed his name to Douglass. -
The North Star
Douglass found a newspaper in Rochester, New York named Te North Star. In Rochester, he helped to smuggle escaped slaves to Cananda via the Underground Railroad. -
The end of the Cival War
After the horrfying Cival War ended, Fredrick had held many government offices. He continued working for human rights. Until he died in Washington D.C. on Febuary 20,1895
