In 1722, the Iroqious had gained or conquered 5 othe indian tribes, and were then refered to as the Six Nations. The secretly played France and Britain agaisnt eachother.

In the 1740s, the argument between the two grew. Britain built a fur tradin fort called Pickawillany and the French attacked it quickly after, driving the British traders out of Ohio. THis started a huge argument.

Washigton went to tell the French that they were tresspassing on Great Britains land, and they said that was their plan and that they wouldn't give it back.

Dinwiddie then sent Washigton back to where the French were to build a fort and found the French already building a fort there. So they built a fort near that called Fort Necessity.
