The French and Indian War
Britain began to fight over land in the Ohio Valley and the Great Lakes. At the same time France begins to build new forts in the same area. -
Fort Nessessity
Geoge Washington bulit a simple fort near the Ohio River. On July 3, 1754 this fort was attacked by the French. On the night of the attack, it rained so hard. Little did Washington know that he built his fort on low ground. As the rain porued in the fort it stared to rise higher and higher. Soon the fort with all of Washington's forces gun powered was flooed. This forces Wshington to surrender. -
Albany Congress
The Albany Congress was an attempt to get the colonies together, to form a nation. Also it was to get the Iroquios as English allies. Unfotuneelty, both plans failed. -
Fort Duquesne
Braddock and his English forces are defeated by the French at this fort. The French built this fort in the Ohio River area. -
Fort Oswego
The English declear war on the French while in Europe. This war was called the Seven Years' War. -
William Pitt
William Pitt was a very kind man. He understood the colonies issues. He was a foregin secetary in England. He sent more English troops to the colonies. Pitt knew that French need the St. Lawerence water way for food and supplies. He thought that if the British controlled them, they could cut off that water way and leave the french straned. -
Battle of Quebec.
The English cut off the St Lawerence River in Quebec.This River is the French's supppy water way. When this cut off the French have no were to go. The English win. Also at this battle two generals on each side were killed. -
Fort Niagara
The French owed this water way. This was a major water way for supplies. But the British cut this off for the French, leaving them stranded. -
Treaty of Paris
This ends the French and Indain war. French loose all of the land. The British gain most of the land lost from the French. -
Jenkins' Ear
Jenkins was an English sea captain. Jenkins smuggled slave to the carribbean for the slave trade. The Spaniards wanted yto teach him a lesson, they cut off his ear. When England heard about this, they were kind of happy. This gave them a reason to fight! So then the war began.
