    Korean War
    North Korea invaded South Korea. The United Nations, with the U.S came to the aid of South Korea. The Soviet Union and China came the aid of North Korea.
  • Vietnam War

    Vietnam War
    The Vietnam War was very costly. The war derived from the Cold War where America wanted to stop communism from spreading all over South East-Asia. It killed more than 3 million people were killed including American civilians.   • 34th President

    34th President
    Dwight Eisenhower vs maturated at the 34th American President. He brought his prestige as commanding general of the victorious forces in Europe during WW II. During his two terms he eased the tension of the cold war.

    U.S Severs Diplomatic Relations w/Cuba
    The relations between the U.S and Cuba had been steadily declining. John F. Kennedy let go of the Cuban Exile Force during Eisenhower years. This led to the Bay Of Pigs.
  • First American Out Of Space

    First American Out Of Space
    Lieutenant Col. John Glenn becomes the first U. S astronaut to orbit Earth. After three years of training John. Glenn set of into space on the Mercury capsule "Friendship 7". In 4 hours and 56 seconds he circled the globe three times moving at 17 miles per hour.   • Martin Luther King " I Have A Dream"

    Martin Luther King " I Have A Dream"
    During the Civil Rights march in Washington D.C. Martin Luther King delivered his " I Have A Dream speech" before 200,000 people. His main focus was to share his hopes of brotherhood as humans for the future. He called for an end to racism by creating non-violent protests in the United States.
  • Civil Rights Act

    Civil Rights Act
    President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act. This act placed an end to segregation in public places and did not permit employment discrimination based on color,race,sex,religion or nationality. The act was expanded by congress in favor of African Americans which later resulted in The Voting Rights Act of 1965.
  • Miranda vs. Arizona

    Miranda vs. Arizona
    There were 4 cases that involved this overall case where defendants confessed guilty after various interrogation techniques. They were not informed that they had the right to remain silent and obtain an attorney during an interrogation while in police custody. Also known as the Fifth Amendment which protects each individual from self-incrimination.
  • House Judiciary Committee

    House Judiciary Committee
    They recommended that Full House should impeach Nixon due to obstruction contempt of congress and abuse of power. High crimes and misdemeanors which were related to the Watergate scandal that led to his impeachment. Nixon is one of the only three presidents in the U.S home articles of impeachment were reported to the full house.

    Sandra Day O'Connor
    Sandra Day O'Connor was sworn into the supreme court justice as a first women. She served her appointment from 1981 to 2006. She later became a republican leader in in the Arizona Senate.

    Oil Tanker Exxon Valdez
    This tank which ran aground in 'Prince Williams Sound spilled more than 10 million gallons of oil. This was known as the largest oil spill in the history of the United States. This also created a large amount of pollution in waterways.
