    Tinker v Des Moines is a case where students showed there right to peacefully protest by wearing black armbands to school to protest the war and then they got in trouble because the school did not like it. Values of Tinker v Des Moines was freedom and equality. The court decided that the right to peacefully protest cpshould be allowed and the students should be able to wear the armbands. The long term affect was students free speech should be respected.

    At a school assembly of approximately 600 high school students, Matthew Fraser made a speech nominating a fellow student for elective office. In his speech, Fraser used what some observers believed was a graphic sexual metaphor to promote the candidacy of his friend. Because of this Fraser was suspended for 2 days and the court ruled the it was to rule such punishment which shows a value of order.
  • Hazelwood School District v. Kuhlmeier

    Hazelwood School District v. Kuhlmeier
    On May 1983, Robert E. Reynolds, the school principal, received the pages From the daily newspaper. Reynolds found two of the articles in the issue to be inappropriate, and ordered that the pages on which the articles appeared be withheld from publication. Cathy Kuhlmeier and two other former Hazelwood East students brought the case to court. The court held that the First Amendment did not require schools to affirmatively promote particular types of student speech. This is a value of freedom.
  • Morse v. Fredrick

    Joseph Frederick held up a banner with the message "Bong Hits 4 Jesus," a slang reference to marijuana smoking. Principal Deborah Morse took away the banner and suspended Frederick for ten days. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the school that it should be illegal to promote drugs on school property. This shows a value of order.

    Riley v. California
    Riley was pulled over for drunk driving and when getting arrested the police found that he had been in a gang that went on a shooting making the punishment more severe for Riley but he argued that it was illegal to search someone's phone without a warrant. The court ruled in favor of Riley which shows a value of freedom and the long term affect was that now you need a warrant to search a phone.
