    Thomas Jefferson looked over the Louisiana Purchase. This gave us more land for America which benefited us very much. Thomas Jefferson also made the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana purchase was signed on April 30, 1803. This gained America the Louisiana territory. It was 828,000 square miles of land.
  • Lewis and Clark's Expedition

    Lewis and Clark's Expedition
    Thomas Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark on an expedition in 1804 to explore the lands that were on the Louisiana Purchase. During this expedition they discovered 122 animal species and learned more about America's geography. They met new Native Americans and also traveled 8,000 miles. The adventure ended in 1806 and was a very big help to America.

    James Madison was the 4th US President. He wrote the federalist papers which was part of making the constitution. Because of that his nickname was "Father of the Constitution."
  • The War of 1812

    This war was when the US fought the British Royal Navy. The British Navy was considered the biggest Naval Army in the world. The war ended in a draw because of the Treaty of Ghent but the US still celebrated the end.
  • James Monroe becomes president

    James Monroe became a US president on March 4, 1817. While he was president he gained Florida for America. He also made the Monroe Doctrine.
  • John Quincy Adams is elected

    John Quincy Adams was elected on February 9, 1825. He won with 84 electoral votes. While he was president he had many roads made that connect the United States.
  • Andrew Jackson is elected president

    Andrew Jackson was elected as president in the year 1829. In 1832 he was reelected as president. While he was president he paid off the national debt which is one of his greatest accomplishments.

    The Trail of Tears was when Andrew Jackson made Native Americans march from Florida to what is currently Oklahoma. He did this because he hated Native Americans and wanted them out. Many Native Americans died because they got not rest and barely any food or water.
  • Harriet Tubman's Underground Railroad

    Harriet Tubman's Underground Railroad
    Harriet Tubman escaped from slavery in 1849 and started helping other slaves escape in 1850. She formed the Underground Railroad which was a trail that the slaves would follow to safety. On the underground railroad there were many safe houses where escaping slaves could rest and get food then continue on the trail. Harriet Tubman saved about 70 slaves in 10 years. The Underground Railroad stopped in 1860.
