Columbus was an Italian explorer and navigator, he navigated his way through the Atlantic Ocean for the Spanish catholic monarchs, his expedition was the first known European contact to visit and set up settlements in the Caribbean, Central, and South America. There he found the natives where he would enslave them and force them to find gold for the name of god, glory, and gold. Columbus is responsible for starting the Atlantic slave triangle.

The patriots were colonist Loyalists who opposed Great Britain's rule over the thirteen colonists. They started a revolution to free themselves from the British rule and start their own government. A popular patriot group was the Founding Fathers who existed many prominent Patriot political theorists. Lincoln taught himself to read and became a lawyer and politician. He was then elected 16th president and he faced secession and civil war. He issued the Emancipation Proclamation which freed all slaves in the rebel states in 1863.

Harriet Tubman was born in slavery in 1820 and escaped to freedom in 1849 using the underground railroad. She later became a conductor of the Underground Railroad leading many slaves to freedom in the North and Canada. She even worked as a scout, nurse, cook, and spy on the side of the Union Army during the Civil War. She helped so many people and freed so many slaves she was an inspiration to so many people.

Manifest Destiny was a cultured belief that settlers were meant to expand westward to the Pacific Ocean. Now that the thirteen colonies were free they decided to expand westward and gain new territory. With the new territory gained America was able to use the land for farming and livestock.
