Histor/Explanation: The US fought the British for independence, and the british granted freedom because it was to expensive to fight AND keep the colony running. They also used the US as a trading partner. -

Main Cause/ Purpose: No countries were created. Canada gave Quebec autonomy, because Quebec wanted to seperate from Canada. Also, another conflict is that Quebec is mainly Catholic and Canada is mainly Protestant. -

History: Ireland didn't want a protestant ruler since the majority was catholic. Ireland went through a rebellion in 1923 in which present day Ireland gained indpendence while N. Ireland remained part of the Great Britain. -

History: After WWII Germany split, because Russia invaded Germany and introduce communism to the country. The Russians stayed in East Germany which became communist, while West Germany became democratic. due to the influence of the Western European states. -

Purpose: Formed to regulate exports & oil prices.

Made to promote islamic solidarity, organized social, economic, scientific activities.

European Union/ EU (supranationalism, economic)
Purpose: To make Europe as a whole more competitve with US and Asia, by eliminating tarriffs on goods imported and exported among themselves.

History: UK won't grant independence because Scotland would use the resources of the North Sea, but Scottland also doesnt want to separate because the would be invaded; they stay with the UK for protection.
