Columbus goal and what he was looking for was to find a new route to India/Asia. What he discovered was the Americas. This importance is that he discovered new land and sparked the Spanish exploration of the new worlds.

When Cortes set sail, he ended up conquering the Aztec Empire. He also claimed Mexico for Spain, the sponsors of his voyage. The importance of this is that he sparked the interest, found land, and found gold.

Pineda's trip was sponsored by Spain, which had the purpose to explore the coast and try to find new routes. He ended up accomplishing his goal by exploring the Coast. In the end he mapped nearly 800 miles of the Coast which is his importance in history.

DeVaca left Spain to search for gold and chart the Gulf Coast in June of 1527. With the help of his leader, Narvez which was he original leader and Estaban, they accomplished many things.

When DeVaca and his men get shipwrecked, the end up on an island to the coast of Texas. They were stuck in Texas from 1529 to 1535, and encountered the Karankawas.

Moscoso, Spain being the country he sailed for, with De Soto as his leader, purpose was to search for gold. He then explored Florida and Texas. On May 21, 1542, De Soto died for a fever. When the expedition ended, Moscoso reported the same basic report Coronado said.

The purpose of this journey was to study the land of the north. When they got back to Spain he told of seeing the cities of gold, which ended up in another journey to look.

Coronado searched for the fabled city of golds. He was helped by his guide Turk, which was leading him to the cities of gold, known as Quivera. When they got there, there was no gold and the Turk was killed for misleading them. On his journey, he discovered 5 states in America. With this, his importance to history is that in his report, he told of the land being harsh and offering nothing. In fact, due to this report, Spain did not return with major trips for 150 years.
