    Cabot reaches Canada and claimed the land for England. He saw thick green forrests and plentiful fish but not the golded Chinese cities he was searching for. He though he had found Asia. One year later he searched again and his ship sank at sea.

    Ponce de Leon left Puerto Rico and after a month of sailing he reached a coast eith sweet-smelling flowers, palm trees, and beautiful birds. This day was the day of Feast of the Easter Flowers, or Pascua Florida, this land later became known as Florida.

    teh Dutch East India Company in Holland hires Henry Hudson to set out for China. He tried to sail across the top of Europe near the Arctice Circle.
  • Hudson reaches Maine

    In July of 1609 Hudson reaches Maine and the Chesapeake Bay. They believed this to be the Northwest passage and sailed up the waterway. It became too Narrow and realized it was only a river, now called the Hudson River.

  • Columbus Spots land

    A white beached, densly forrested island is spotted by a sailor on one of Columbus' ships. They named the island San Salvado which means "holy savior" in Spanish. Columbus called them INDIANS becaue he though they had reached the East Indies.
