    Juan was a Spanish official in the new world. He explored and settled the island of Puero Rico. He revealed that large tracts of land ripe for exploration lay to the north of Carribean islands on his expodition.

    Giovanni da Verrazano

    Giovanni was sent westward by King Francis I. He went and reached the North Carolina Outer Banks, went across the islands and he was looking at the Pamlico and Albemale Sounds. When he returned to France the king was busy so he didn't sponsor any more voyages to the Americas.

    Lucas Vazquez de Ayllon

    Ayllon led over 500 people to the Jordan River. Hisorians think that it was really North Carolina's Cape Fear River. This colony failed because disease and starvation. He took the colony to South Carolina and it didnt help they still were overwhelmed with the disease and starvation.The remainy 150 colonist returned to Hispaniola.

    Herdando de Soto

    Herdando sailed with the Milatary expedition from Havana, Cuba, to the west coast of Florida. in spring he crossed Georgia and South Carolina and passed throygh the western tip of North Carolina. Him and his men were the first people to see the regions.He died on the trip they took after that to south and west, many of the men returned to Mexico.
