    Balboa 'discovers' the Pacific Ocean in Panama

    While Vasco Nunez de Balboa was in pursuit for gold, he found something else. When he was in Panama he sighted the Pacific Ocean. However, the Spanish governor saw this as a threat to himself, so he falsely accused Balboa and had an executed early in the year 1519.

    When the Spaniards landed in Mexico, the Aztecs welcomed them with money, food and women because the Spaniards looked a lot like their 'gods'. However, the Spaniards did not treat them the same, they came in and conquered them.
