  • missouri compromise

    the missouri compromise was when missouri wanted to join the union as a slave state but this would give the south an advantage and there would be more slave states and not enough free. comprmise was missouri could become part of the union as a slave state as long as maine could become a free state from mass. this was a bg issue because now there is a slave state in the north
  • nat turners rebellion

    nat turners rebellion was when an american slave named Nat Turner stared a rebellion and killing slave owners and familys in virginia in august of 1831. this was an issue because slave owners were being killed
  • fugitive slave act

    this was passed in 1850 and allowed slave owners to capture escaped slaves or freed aferican americans all the owners had to do is find a colored man or women and take them back to the south. this lead to the civil war because freed slaves wre being brought back to the south
  • uncle toms cabin

    this was an anti slavery book published in 1852. some say that this layed the ground for the civil war. people were upset because this was happening to our nation and the south was upset because they wew looking like really bad people.
  • bleeding kansas

    violent convotations by the united states between 1854 and 1861 by debates. this was a little battle that lead to bigger fights and battles during the war.
  • john browns raid

    made a revole for slaves he took over harpers ferry virginia. many people were dying and others were upset.
  • election of lincoln

    election during 1860 which put lincoln in the white house and this upset the north because this favored the north. many sountherners were upset with this and wanted to leave the union.
