    The battles of Lexington and Concord were the first battles of the American Revolution. It provided the spark that was needed to keep the American revolt strong and supported.     After the Patriot's retreat, the British regulars marched onwards to Concord, where they began their search for the military supplies. At the North Bridge in Concord, the Patriot militiamen opened fire on the British and dealt heavy damage. These men defeated 3 groups of redcoats in open territory and forced a retreat. The British fled to Boston before regrouping. #FAIL

    As the colonies attacked Boston, colonial leaders learned that Britain was planning an attack upon Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill in order to occupy those areas. 1200 colonial troops, under the command of William Prescott, began to build light fortifications on Breed's Hill. When the British recieved news of this, they attacked. After a total of 3 front line assaults, the British forced a colonial retreat. Although the British won, they suffered heavy casualties. #WORSTIDEAEVER

    The Battle of Saratoga is two seperate battles, known as Freeman's Farm and Bemis Heights. The Battle of Freeman's Farm occured on September the 19th, about 4 miles from Saratoga. The British, under General Burgoyne, pushed Southward from their position.The British Army advanced in three lanes, each with a seperate role. The British and American Armies clashed, ultimately resulting in an American Retreat to Bemis Heights. #TACTICS FOR THE WIN

    The second part,called Bemis Heights, was the true turning point. The British Army of 5000 men marched onwards. On the left was General Gates himself, and the right was given to General Lincoln. The center was occupied by Colonel Morgan and his 600 Virginian Riflemen. These sharpshooters were able to prevent several British rallies. At Bemis heights, the Americans effectively drove the British back, and went on the offensive. VICTORY

    What Happened at Valley Forge Although Valley Forge was not a battle, the colonies lost 2500 soldiers at this Winter Shelter. On December the 19th, Washington and his extremely weakened army returned to Valley Forge. At Valley Forge, the soldiers set up huts to stay warm in. Only one in three soldiers had shoes, and all of them were poorly fed. The army suffered many losses to diseases as well. #PERSERVERENCE

    On February 22nd, 1781, the delegates of the Continental Congress completed the ratification of the Articles of Confederation, which was the first sign of self-government in the Colonies. However, until March 1st, 1781, the Articles of Confederation were not truly ratified. The Articles of Confederation lasted until March 4.1789, when the Constitution was used. The Constitution provided a stronger government with a chief executive, courts, and taxing powers. #INDEPENDENCE

    The Siege of Yorktown was the last battle of the American Revolution. It was won by the American Army, under General Washington, and the French army, under Comte de Rochambaeu. After weeks of battle, the weak and crippled British army was finnally defeated after two columns of American soldiers destroyed the final defense. 5 Days later, the British formally surrendered to Washington. #FREEDOM

    The Treaty of Paris, signed on September the 3rd, 1783, formally ended the American Revolution. This treaty marked the beginning of American Independence. During the initial debates, Benjamin Franklin and John Adams, with British delegation, spent about a year signing and editing the Treaty of Paris.
