    Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand
    Archduke Francz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip; a Boshian Serb at the Latin Bridge in Sarajevo. In response to the assassination of the heir presumptive to the Austrian-Hungarian throne, Austria declared war on Serbia.The start of the First War begun.

    A British ocean liner was torpedoed by a German U-Boat 11 miles off the southern coast of Ireland and inside the declared ''zone of war.'' International uproar led by the U.S resulted in German U-Boat warfare for 2 years.

    General Villa ordered nearly 100 mexican members of his revolutionary group to make a cross-border attack against Colombus New Mexico. In response to Villas raid on Colombus President Wilson sent 5000 men of the U.S Army under General John Pershing into Mexico to capture Villa, employing air craft and trucks for the 1st time in U.S History.

    Presidential election of 1916 where Wilson used the chant "He Kept Us Out Of War'' as a slogan to state the neutrality of the U.S in the war.Unfortunately, do to Germans persistence on using unrestricted submarine warfare, Wilson asked congress to declare war in 1917.

    Germans resumption to unrestricted submarine warfare at sea was a main reason U.S declared and joined war. Germany was eagered to keep to their word of sinking any ship entering the ports of the Allied Nations.On 22 December 1916, Admiral von Holtzendorff composed a memorandum which became the pivotal document for Germany's resumption of unrestricted U-boat warfare in 1917.
