  • First Slaves in the New World

    A ship filled with people and food bring about twenty black Africans to the Colony of Virginia as indentured servants,because of this slavery will be introduced to the future U.S.This lead to the Civil War because is was the begining of slaver.
  • Declarataion of Independence

    The United States Declaration of Independence says "that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." But slavery remains legal in the colonies,this lead to the Civil War because slavery was legal according to the Constitution
  • Act Prohibiting Importation of Slaves

    The importation of slaves was nationally prohibited in 1808, although illegal importation,smuggling was not unusual.Domestic slave trading, however, continued at a rapid pace,this lead to the Civil War because slaves then were taken care of and started to get knowleged.

    Henry Clay and Stephen Douglas idea of the compromise prevented further territorial expansion of slavery while strengthening the Fugitive Slave Act, a law which compelled Northerners to seize and return escaped slaves to the South.This lead to the Civil War because it will be a issue withe Kansas and Nebraska
  • Uncle Toms Cabin

    Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin was the second-best-selling book in America in the 19th century, second only to the Bible. Northerners eyes were opened to the horrors of slavery, while Southerners protested Stowe’s work. This lead to the Civil War because it felt as if the north had to do something about slavery.

    The Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854,overturned parts of the Missouri Compromise by allowing the settlers in the territories will determine whether or not to permit slavery by a popular vote.The two factions struggled for five years with sporadic outbreak.This Lead to the Civil War because it never came down to an agreement on being sale or free.

    John Brown,the crusading abolitionist organized a small band of whites and free blacks and raided a government arsenal in Harpers Ferry, Virginia. He hoped to get weapons and distribute them to slaves to create an uprising.This lead to the Civil War because it alarmed the south that the north was trying to help the slaves.
