Missouri Compromise
Henry Clay passed this to keep balance with tyhe free and slave states in congress. -
Wilmot Proviso
In 1846 David Wilmot tried to pass a law stating that slave owners shouldnt be able to bring their slaves into new territories (Mexico.) -
Compromise of 1850
Henry Clay, because California had become a state, made it a slave state but to keep balance b\made it so slave owners could hunt down and recieve their slaves for anti-slave territories. -
Fugitive Slave Act
This law was passed by Henry Clay saying that slave owners can hunt down their slaves if they escape. (Uncle Tom's Cabin criticized this.) -
Kansas Nebraska Act
Stephen Douglas Passed this so that in the Kansas-Nabraska territories,people voted whether it would be Pro or Anti Slavery. -
Bleeding Kansas
In kansas in 1855 people were voting whether the state would be pro or anti slave, the pro slave people were dominant but just in case they brought in illegal missourians to vote. Anti slave people created their own government but because of the politicalconfusion, civil war reigned for three years. -
Dred Scott V Sandford
Dred Scott esaped from his captor and fled to a free state but his owner came and got him, he tried to sue because he was in a "free" area but he was turned down because he was not a member of the US. -
Lincoln-Douglas Debate
After the Dred Scott V. Sandford casebeing turned down, Lincoln felt that Slavery was wrong but Douglas felt black people were object, Douglas won
