  • French and Indian War

  • Proclamation Line

    Restricted access to land they just won in the 7 year's war, and were forced to pay taxes to pay for the war.
  • Sugar Act

    Tax on sugar in colonies to lower the debt from The French and Indian war. Put the colonists were put in debt while getting Britain out of debt.

    It extended the currency act of 1751, but did not restrict colonists from using paper money but stopped future emissions of paper money

    Put tax on newspaper and legal documents . Colonial opposition led to American Revolution.

    Allowed British army to stay in home and eat there for free. Many times British soldiers were rude and ungrateful.

    An American group that united colonists and participated in boycotts. Played a major role in opposing the stamp act.

    First congress brought together where the colonies were represented and talked about issues.

    Taxes on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea imported to colonies. Made getting things from England expensive and difficult.

    Speed economic recovery and opposing townshend acts in Virginia. Made them stand united against continued British taxation and trade control.

    British Soldiers killed a group of colonists for taunting them. This made the colonists want to riot and demand punishment for these soldiers.

    The second Congress managed the colonial war effort, and moved incrementally towards independence. Declared the beginning of the American Revolution

    The first Military engagements of the American Revolution. Lexington was a very short fight that American soldiers ran from. At concord soldiers waited for more forces then attacked British soldiers and won.
