Missouri Compromise
After the Louisiana purchase, talk about the expansion of slavery into the new land was a hot topic between the north and south states. Ultimately, Congress reached an agreement that became known as the Missouri Compromise.
Important because the Missouri Compromise drew a line between the north and south states, making the north the free side and the south the slavery side. This created tension the between the both, ultimately leading to the civil war. -
