    As well as the new inquisitive minds of the 15th century, new inventions also spur European Exploration. Amongst these was the caravel, which provided triangular sails to overcome harsh sea storms and a lot more storage space for the country's wealth to flourish.

    He joined a Portuguese fleet that sailed to east Africa. Two years later he explored to Malacca and participated in the occupation of Malacca's port.

    Alfonso de Albuquerque
    A Portuguese soldier sent by Pedro Cabral to India and Mel-aka which was on the Malay Peninsula. He conquered Goa, fortifies it, and becomes the first governor of India.

    In 1511, a Portuguese fleet attacked the city of Malacca on the west coast of the Malay Peninsula. With this victory, Portugal seizes control of the Strait of Malacca.
