the Victorian Government decided to increase the miners licences to 3 pounds per month. -

The government decreased the current fee to 2 pounds for 3 months, this also made the miners release their grudge for the government. -

Gov Hotham makes miners show their licence twice a week to increase the budget even more. -
Peter Lalor is Leader
They were asked to show their licences, but instead they threw rocks at them. In the afternoon another meeting is held and Peter Lalor is elected leader. He asked for volunteers and hundreds answer and swore an oath then they barricaded the Eureka Lead. -
The Attack
On Sunday Victorian police intended on attacking the stockade with it's 296 soldiers equiped with firearms. They launched the attack at dawn and 22 miners and 7 miltary are sadly dead. -
The Recommendation
Members of the Gold Fields Commission address Governor Hotham that the licences are to be gone. -
Finalised
The final report is handed to Governor Hotham and it states that licences are gone, but anyone who has found gold must pay a small fee for their discovery.
