  • Industry vs. Inferiority

    Maria (Age 16) begins a new job as a teenager at McDonald’s, finding a sense of individuality. Applying herself to these tasks makes her feel pleased with personal accomplishment.
    In Eriksons 4th stage, industry vs. inferiority, children learn the pleasure of applying themselves to tasks, or they feel inferior.
  • Generativity vs. Stagnation

    Maria, 30, is dependent upon working from a young age and feels a sense of worth by contributing to society. She is a successful divorce lawyer, although unmarried but enjoying focusing on her career and friends.
  • Integrity vs. Despair

    Maria, 70, is now officially retired and had a very successful life in career, friends, and wealth. She is satisfied with everything accomplished. Although having a few passionate romantic interests, marriage and children did not occur and later in life, it is something she regrets.

    When reflecting on her life, she has a sense of satisfaction and failure.
