The bastille a state prison in paris was attacked by an angry mob demanding ammunition. The mobs request was denied by the governor. The mob was not happy with this and kidnapped the governor and carried his head. After the Haitian revolution dessalines created there first flag by sewing two pices of blue and red fabric together. Many people belive that he used a french flag and cut out the white symbolizing africans with blue and europians with red.
