  • The first Engine

    The first Engine
A Dutch physicist designed but never built the Internal Combustion Engine.
  • Electric spark engine

    Electric spark engine
Jean Joseph created the first electric spark ignition internal combustion engine.
  • Siegfried Marcus

    Siegfried Marcus
Siegfried Marcus built a one cylinder engine with a crude carburetor and attached his engine to a cart for a 500-foot drive.
  • First 2 Stroke engine

    First 2 Stroke engine
The first successful two-stroke engine was invented by Sir Dougald Clerk.
  • 4 Stroke Engine

    4 Stroke Engine

  • Patent on gas fueled car

Karl Benz received the first patent (DRP No. 37435) for a gas fueled car.
  • First 4 stroke 4 cylinder engine

First 4 stroke 4 cylinder engine

  • VTEC

    VTEC
In 1990 Honda made a VTEC engine. VTEC stands for variable valve timing and lift electronic control.
  • Most cylenders in an engine

The Bugatti has a w-16 cylinder engine.
  • Turbo and Superchargers

    Turbo and Superchargers
Turbos and superchargers are made to add HP to the engine. Turbos usually need intercoolers to cool the air off before it enters the combustion chamber. Superchargers dont use intercoolers but they can be used. Superchargers create low RPM boost but they dont make alot of boost around 16 to 18psi. Turbos create alot of boost but not until higher RPMs. Turbos can make up to about 30 to 40psi.
