In 1585, a hundred people were sent to help the Colonists, but were never heard from again. That is why they are known as The Lost Colony.

A hundred settlers from the country of England land in Chesapeake Bay, near Jamestown. They arrived on their ships the Godspeed, the Susan Constant, and the Discovery.

In 1607, John Smith and The London Company found the Virginia Colony at Jamestown. This is the 1st of the 13 original American Colonies.

In 1620, Massachusetts Bay (Plymouth) is established as the 2nd colony.

On November 11th, 1620 The Mayflower of English separatists landed in Plymouth. They landed at Plymouth Rock.

In 1623, The state of New Hampshire became the 3rd Colony.

In 1624, Virginia becomes a Royal Colony of England. The King of England declared this to be true.

In 1626, New Amsterdam is settled and would later become New York.

In 1634, Maryland becomes the 4th Colony. They followed New Hampshire.

In 1636 Providence and Portsmouth join together and form the 5th colony
