    Shortly after WWII, gentlemen set out to gain a new sound. The new form of music used sound recording devices, natural, environmental sounds, naming the concept musique concrete.

    The first computers were coming into society, and composers were using computer code to make songs like "Ba Ba Blacksheep"

    Bands like The Beach Boys and The Beatles were pioneers for how electronics could be put into the music they produced. The Beatles were among the first to play around with tape loops in their music, like in their track Tomorrow Never Knows. It innovated how musical patterns and repetition were displayed

    During the 1930s the first interpertaion of turntables came into motion with Paul Hindemith. In the 1970s legendary DJs like Kool Herc reinvented the idea into what modern day music has been influenced by. He was able to sample track records and come up with a brand new sound.

    In the early 80s we were able to allow electronic musical instruments and computers to send information to each other, practically "talking"
  • New Trends in Electronic Music

    A trend recently in music is the idea to use modern technology, like using the smartphone. In 2005 a college came up with the first laptop orchestra, making music completely on the device. This is just another step into evolution in technology and music.

    Throughout the ages, these technical advances have influenced musicians and engineers to come up with their own innovations, like Mark Applebaum, who deconstructed the idea of the instrument completely by coming up with the Mouskeeter.
