    Six different primaries: Open, anyone can vote for their party. Semi-open, anyone can vote for anyone. Close, only registered voters can vote. Semi-closed, any registered voter can vote even independents. Blanket, a voter can pick anyone for whatever office. Run-off, two canidates proceed on regardless of affiliation.

    Politcal parties host conventions to nominate who they will want running for president and vice president. There is a Democratic, Republican and National convention.
