    Lief Ericcson
    Lief Ericcson was the son of Eric the Red, an explorer. As a typical family in those times, he spent 4 years in Germany with a man named Thyrker. Thryker taught Lief everything he needed to know, including reading and writing. He was considered a man at 12 and went back home. At the age of 24, he was asked to be the captian of a voyage. When he was in the ocean, a storm knocked him off and he landed in a new land what is now called Newfondland.

    Christopher Columbus
    Chistopher Columbus was the captian of a voyage to India. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain helped finance this trip. On this voyage, there were 3 ships and 90 people. The three ships were named the Pinta, the Nina, and the Santa Maria. His plan was to get to India by sailing west, but he found a new world.

    Vasco da Gama was the explorer who found a sea route to India by sailing around Africa. He was Portugeese and landed in India on Aug 29, 1498 (above). He won the sea race for his country.

    Ponce de Leon was a warrior and the governer of present-day Puerto Rico. He also was the founder of Florida and he searched for the mythical fountain of youth. He was born in Santervas, Spain. Ponce was given the right to find and take land on the island of Biminki. His last expidition was also in Bimiki.

    Ferninand Magelan
    Ferdinand Magellan was the first person to curcumnavigate the world. Circumnavigate means he sailes all the way around the world. He was from Portugal but he sailed for Spain. The expedition was 5 ships and 270 men. Magellan died in the Phillipenes and only 18 crewmembers made it back.

    Hernan Cortes was a Spanish conquistador. He conquered the Aztec empire at Tenotchilin. He won this battle because he was immune to European diseses and had better weapons, but he was outnumbered.
  • Henry Hudson's second Expedition

    Henry Hudson's second Expedition
    Herry Hudsoon lead 2 expeditions, this is about his second one. He sailed for th dutch from 1610 to 1611. He landed in what is now called the Hudson Bay in northern Canada. He sailed around looking for a northwest passage. He died in a mutiny.
