Due to the expanding tobacco plantations and how they began to take over more and more of the Powhatan land, many Jamestown residents we're slaughtered. There were too many landgrabs from them so the Powhatans responded in a very greousome way.

During this time, Nathanial Bacon marched into JAmestown and demanded that Hovernor Berkely aprrove a war aginst the Native Americans to seize their land for tobacco plantations. Upon his refusal, Bacon marched into Jamestown, took control of the House of Burgesses, and burned Jamestown to the ground. His death resulted i na sudden illness that set an end to the rebellion . All of his followers were hung.
