St. Augustine is near Florida. It was founded by a Spanish explorer, Pedro Menéndez de Avilés. Spain ruled St. Augustine for more than 200 years. -

Roanoke is off the coast of North Carolina. It’s called the Lost Colony because nobody knows what happened to everyone on the colony. -

It includes Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, and New York. New Netherland was claimed by the Dutch. It, bought the Manhattan Island from the Indians in 1626. The Dutch set up trading posts at 6 different places. -

Williamsburg is in Virginia and was the capital of the Virginia Colony.Twice a year, plantation owners went to the city to attend sessions of the General Court. -

New Swedan is near New Jersey and was the only Swedish colony in America. -

Pennsylvania is west of The Delaware River. King Charles the 2 let William Penn set up a colony,because he owed Penn’s father a huge debt. So the king gave him land instead of money.
