    Magna Carta
    The Magna Carta was the first document to challenge the authority of the king, subjecting him to the rule of the law and protecting his people feudal abuse. King John was the King in rule when the Magna Carta was written. It had a list of 63 clauses drawn up by English barons to limit the Kings power. Which he was forced into signing. It affected the U.S. By influencing Thomas Jefferson and John Adams while writing the Constitution.

    Jamestown was the first permanent American settlement. It was founded by Virginia Company of London. It is known to be the first colony in the British empire. It lead the way in settling America
  • French & Indian War

    French & Indian War
    The war started in 1756 and ended in 1763. This was a war fought between France and Britain over the expansion in the Ohio River Valley. France won the help of the American Indians in the war. The war ended in a treaty stated France could keep their West Indian Asugar islands and gave Louisiana to Spain. The treaty strengthened the American colonies by removing their European rivals to the north and the south and opening up the Mississippi Valley to westward expansion.

    American Revolution
    The American Revolution started on April 19, 1775 and lasted until September 3, 1783. This war was fought to win America's independence. America fought against Britain. American won its independence thanks to the leadership of George Washington.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was a document that stated it had became necessary for America to become independent. Thomas Jefferson was the main author of the Declaration And King George the III was the king in power during this period of time. The Declaration was signed by 56 people, John Hancock signed it first.
  • Constitutional Convention

    Constitutional Convention
    The Constitutional Convention started on May 15 and went through September 17, 1787. The Convetion was used to review the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation and try to fix them. Where eventually the Constitution was drafted. All the original states sent delegates expect Rhode Island. In total there were 55 delegates who attended the Convention.

    Louisiana Purchase
    The Lousiana Purchase was bought by Thomas Jefferson from France during his presidency. It was approximately 828,000,000 square miles. It doubled the size of America and helped achieve Manifest Destiny.
  • Mexican-American War

    Mexican-American War
    The Mexican-American war started in 1846 and ended in 1848. The Mexican-American war was a war fought between Mexico and American over the annexation of Texas and the southern borders of the United States. James K. Polk was president during the war and the Mexican General was Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. American colonel was Stephen W. Kearny. This war helped America succeed in Manifest Destiny.
  • Civil War

    Civil War
    The Civil War started on April 12, 1861 and ended on April 9, 1865. This was a sectional war between the Confederates and the Union. The war was mainly fought over the issue of slavery and the right for a state to secede. The president in office was Abraham Lincoln for the North and the South was Jefferson Davis. Eventually the Confederate forces surrender and the 13th amendment is passed to abolish slavery.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    Emancipation Proclamation
    The Emancipation Proclamation was written on January 1, 1863 by Abraham Lincoln. The Proclamation stated the all slaves in rebellious states "shall then be, thence forward, and forever free. It did not fee slaves but it was the turning point in the Civil War. It transformed the war to fight for the right of human freedom.
