Spotting Thickly Settled

Mar 16, 1027

Thickly Settled was the nickname of the sign Morgan and Remy decided to steal. They spotted the sign during driver's ed with Mr. Fielding. The name is farely self explanitory as it is titled that because it is the only "thickly settled"(27) sign in town according to Morgan.

Deciding to take the sign

Mar 16, 1035

After seeing the stop sign Remy, Lark, Morgan and Nickie agree to sneak out and take the sign. It was Morgan who convince Nickie to come along, they needed him because he could drive. Their plan was to tell their parents they're seeing a movie but really sneaking out to steal a sign.

Taking the sign

Mar 16, 1048

At this point Nickie, Remy and Morgan have set out to steal the sign. For reasons unknown Lark could not join them to steal the sign. Once they got there Nickie and Morgan began to take the sign down with a hacksaw. Meanwhile Remy stayed in the car as a look out.

The news report

Mar 16, 1075

Morgan sees on the news of a women who got in a car crash and died on the road they took the sign from. The crash was because the women didn't stop at the intersection where a stop sign would be. Morgan and Remy are responsible because if the sign was there she would have stopped. On the news report they didn't said who took the sign was unknown because Remy, Morgan and Nickie have yet to tell anyone.

Remy learns

Mar 16, 1079

At this point in the novel Morgan tells Remy about what happen to the women. Her name is also learned and it is Denise Tompson. After learning about the crash Morgan and Remy are worried about who saw the report and the guilt is starting to set in.

Nickie learns

Mar 16, 1096

Morgan has now told Nickie about the death of Denisie Tompson and he gets a fairly odd response. Nickie had said "we did that" and Morgan got a vibe as if Nickie was proud of it. Morgan was starting to feel sick over what happen and felt comfort in knowing he might be able to blame Nickie.

Someone find out

Mar 16, 1127

During a conversation between Morgan, Remy and Nickie Remmy's younger brother Mac over heard that they stole the sign. After learning this he had the intentions of telling people but they convinced him other wise. As a side note the conversation was about how Morgan can't handle the guilt and wants to tell people.

Nickies threats

Mar 16, 1135

Nickie had learned that Morgan considered telling and that if he did Nickie did not want to be dragged down with him. Nickie told him that if he told he would say that he Morgan planned for the crash and watched it happen. Nickie also said that he would claim that he was not involved in anything regarding the sign.

The ads stopped

Mar 16, 1142

Ever since the death of Denies Tompson Mr. Tompson ran ads to try to see if someone will confess to being responsible of her death. The ads had finally stopped after running for about three weeks. Morgan saw this has a good thing because it was a constant reminder of what happen.

Back on the road

Mar 16, 1147

This was the first time Remy and Morgan were driving again since the day they saw Thickly Settled. Ever since the accident they did not want to drive but they had to in order to keep suspision down. Mr. Fielding notice they were acting odd but didn't question it.

Remy tells

Mar 16, 1153

After receiving her licenses she tells Mr. Fielding about the stolen stop sign. She had also told him that she was going to tell her parents and she wants them to learn about it from her. She had also told Morgan that she had told Mr. Feilding and her plan to tell her parents. Morgan at that point agrees with Remy's decision and he is going to also tell his parents.

Morgan tells his father

Mar 16, 1156

Morgan told his father about the stolen stop sign and how he is responsible for the death of Denies Tompson. Morgan was very scared to do this because his father has once said the person who took the sign should be shot. It cuts off right there then jumps to Remy telling her parents.

Remy tells her parents

Mar 16, 1157

Remy told her parents about the stolen stop sign and how she responsible for Denies Tompson death. They did not take the news well, they felt like terrible parents. Remy's mother felt devastated and was extremely furious towards Remy. Her father was a little less angry and felt a little understanding.

Morgans families reaction

Mar 16, 1159

The book cuts back to Morgan telling his family and they took the news a little bit better the Remys parents. Morgans father first asked about the whole story to learn what happen. He was angry but like Remys father they were understanding. Morgans mother was very angry but not as mad as Remys mom.

Remy tells her parents about Nickie

Mar 16, 1163

During the morning at the breakfast table Remy tells her parents about Nickies part in the crime. She told them that Nickie had chosen the stop sign. She did this in hopes of sympathy from her mother because she was giving her the cold shoulder. It didnt work.

The meeting

Mar 19, 1166

Remys and Morgans Families had met with Mr. Fielding to discuss the crime. During this meeting Mr Fielding comes to terms with the fact that he's a terrible driver's ed teacher and was irresponsible for not paying attention to the kids that he teaches.

Mr. Fielding addresses the class

Mar 19, 1172

Mr. Fielding addressed the class about how hes been teaching. He mentions the death of Denies Tompson and the Importance of this class and he didn't realise this, he said "only driving is life anf death". Mr. Fielding had never bothered to really learn names. Now he wants to turn that around and be a better teacher.

Mr. Tompson learns

Mar 16, 1180

Morgan and Remy go to Mr. Tompsons home to tell the they're responsible for the death of his wife. Once he learns he isn't angry but insted very upset. He has come to cope with the death but is mad at them and explains what he wants as punishment. He wants them every holiday to think about Denies, that way it ruins their holiday just like they ruined his.

The trip to the Tompsons explained

Mar 19, 1188

Remy tells her mother about there visit to Mr. Tompson because she wants to know what happen. Lately shes been very angry and has ignored Remy. Remys mother completly isolated herself from the family because she's so disappointed in Remy. This is the first conversation they have had since she found out.

Visiting the grave

Mar 16, 1190

Mr. Fielding takes Morgan and Remy for another driving lesson and they were very confused. They did not know why he chose them to drive today but soon learned he was taking them to the cemetary. He took them to the grave of Denies Tompson to pay respect.

The Pageant

Mar 19, 1198

It was the day of the Christmas pageant and Remys mother was still angry twoards Remy. During the pageant they made amends and she was no long ingnoring Remy. Remy did not want Mr. Tompson punishment to ruin Christmas so she told her mother she was sorry and said she loved her. Remys mom said it back and she was done ignoring her. This help creat closure for Remy because she felt less blaim was on her.
