Frederick Griffith
in 1928 Frederick Griffith conducted an experiment using bacteria and mice. He studied 2 strands of bacteria that he injected into the mice modifying one of the strands. later he found that one if the mice was dead. Then he mixed the strand that killed the mouse and the strand that didn't. He later injected the mouse and then it died. He found that the one strands of bacteria had transformed into trait that had killed the mouse. -
Oswald Avery
Later Oswald Avery looked at Griffith's experiment and found that when Strand S died it released it's DNA and when strand R was exposed to it strand R cells transformed into strands S. So when the S cells died they were exposed to R cells which they were transformed into S cells then injected into the mouse which then died. -
Erwin Chargaff
Chargaff found that the amount of guanine nearly equals the amount of cytosine, and the amount of adenine nearly equals the amount of thymine within a species. -
Rosalind Franklin
She found that DNA is the genetic material of all organisms, composed of two complementary, precisely paired stands ofnucleotide wound in a double helix. -
Hersey and Chase
Published an experiment that confirmed that DNA is the transforming factor. -
Watson and Crick
After seeing Franklins's picture of DNA they built a model of a double helix.
