Housing Affordability Protests were driven by a persistent housing crisis caused by the end of Covid-19 relief funds, historically low housing inventory, high mortgage rates that discouraged existing homeowners from selling, and sustained strong demand for homes. Protests related to housing precarity and homelessness increased, accelerating on all general social media sites. -
Triggered by the assassination of Charlie Kirk on Sept 10, 2025 on UVU college campus, multiple protest groups emerged throughout Utah County and Salt Lake County. These included social media campaigns for peace and a better political discussion, along with petitions to rename major highways and memorials after Charlie Kirk.
