Battle of Bunker Hill
Took place on June 17, 1775. The British took two hills, bunker and breeds to take tactical advantage. Their leader led three charges. The American forces heard about it and went to defend the hills. British forces were lead by major general Williams Howe. Nearly half of the British died. -
Battles of Lexington and concord
These battles initiated the Revolutionary War between the American colonists and the British. British governor Thomas Gage sent troops to Concord to stop the colonists who were loading arms. They were looking to find John Hancock and Sam Adams. Paul Revere rode through the town to warm them. 73 british soldiers had been killed and 174 wounded 26 were missing. -
Battle of Ticonderoga
The colonist captured fort Ticonderoga on May 10, 1775. The Green mountain boys had a vital part in capturing Fort Ticonderoga. The attack was led by General Amherst. -
Battle of Trenton
Led by George Washington. Him and his troops crossed the Delaware river in the night to attack in Trenton, New Jersey. This secret attack took place on December 26, 1776. The colonies victory led to a strong moral victory. -
Battle of Saratoga
Was the turning point of the American Revolution. It was important because it convinced the French to give the U.S. military support. It lifted American spirits and ended the British threat in New England by taking control of the Hudson River. Most importantly it showed the French that the Americans had the potential to beat their enemy, Great Britain. -
Battle of Yorktown
This was the final battle of the American revolution.Cornwallis surrendered to to George Washington. The French Navy helped out the American forces.The battle led to the treaty of Paris in 1783
